My Students
I am proud to teach in a school with a diverse population of students. Over 50% of our students are at or below the poverty level. Many qualify for free or reduced lunch programs. However, all of my students are faced with challenges in and out of the classroom.
I am always looking for ways to help the students integrate their personalities and backgrounds into their art projects.
By getting them personally involved, they will have confidence and pride in what they have accomplished, be it through the use of pencils, markers or paint.
Regardless of their challenges, my students are bright and talented, and they continue to strive for and achieve at high levels. For this reason, I want to provide my students with a variety of art materials to expand their art experiences. We need markers, colored pencils, and scissors.
My Project
My students will use these supplies when they learn about the Elements of Art. They will learn how to produce different types of lines when they draw and how make a color wheel.
With these supplies, the students will have hands-on learning.
They also will explore organic and geometric shapes used in tessellations, make a value scale and learn to draw in perspective.
Without these supplies, the students will be limited to the classroom textbook which, in all honesty, will curb their enthusiasm for art. That is the opposite of my goals for the students. Can you help?
