My Students
Our school is a safe place for many of our students. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds.
100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
We also have a backpack pals program that sends food and snacks home to families over long weekends and holidays. Many of the students only have one parent or guardian at home and have many adult responsibilities. Despite their hardships, they are joyful, appreciative, and eager to learn!
For many students who attend our small school, this will be the first time, and perhaps the only time they will be able to visit the Nurture Nature Center. This field trip will provide students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to learn about Earth and its environment that impacts its future existence. The students will also discover the impact that they have on our planet Earth. They will participate in the Science on Sphere Program. This is one of only 150 spheres in the world. It is an amazing opportunity for the students. This will be a trip they will not forget!
My Project
The students will participate in a topography and watersheds Science on Sphere Program at the Nurture Nature Center. This is an exciting opportunity for the students as there are only 150 spheres in the world.
This show includes time with the Interactive Watershed Exhibit.
They will also have a hands-on activity hour exploring our Earth's energy. The students will participate in demonstrations that show how various sources of energy function, with working examples of engines, generators, wind, hydropower, nuclear, fossil fuels, biofuels, and solar.
Both of these topics align with our 4th-grade science curriculum and provide real-life experiences for our students. (STEM)
