Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in Fort Worth, TX, and my students come from diverse backgrounds, as I am teaching a two way bilingual class. My students come from low-income backgrounds, and they recognize the impact of being bilingual in today's society. They are eager to learn from one another. We work together as a team, and make sure that all of our peers feel included and comfortable in our classroom.

My students are hard-working, fun-loving, and goal-driven, and they love discussing how they would change the world.

They have big plans for their futures, which is nice to see and I hope to help them on their paths to success. It has been a privilege to work with them for the past couple of months, and I want to continue working with them to set goals for themselves.

My Project

I am looking to strengthen my classroom library for my young scholars. As they continue through this school year, I want to foster a love for reading so that they may realize the importance of literacy. The selection includes fiction and non-fiction texts to expose students to different type of books and cover different genres within those two categories.

With your help, my students will have access to appropriately challenging literature that will help them on the road to success and allow them to explore interests through books.

Currently students primarily take out books from the school library but having access to books within the classroom will make reading much more accessible to all of us to constantly reference.
