My Students

At our school, our students have a voice.

Our school is a separate, public day school which provides a special education program for students who range in age from three to twenty-one years, with mild to severe cognitive deficits and multiple disabilities.

Classes are comprised of preschool students in the Preschool Educational Programs (PEP-Intensive Needs Class, Beginnings, Classic, and Collaborative), PreK, Head Start, as well as school-aged students five to twenty-one years old with severe to profound/multiple disabilities.

Instruction is based on the Voluntary State Curriculum, MCPS General Education Curriculum and/or the Fundamental Life Skills Curriculum.

Our school adheres to the Success for Every Student philosophy to assure that each student maximizes his or her potential. Art, music, physical education, and media/library classes are provided to all of our students.

My Project

In my line of work as a special education teacher, I am always working to enrich lessons for my students with diverse needs. My students who are non-verbal love technology tools and resources to communicate their wants and needs. With an iPad in my classroom, this would allow all my students under my wing to experience the interactivity of the amazing iPad apps. My students could use the iPad apps in small groups, as well as in whole group lessons. Having an iPad could truly help us out!

I feel this opportunity to gain an iPad could benefit my non-verbal students with their communication and making requests for their needs and wants.

Together you and I have an opportunity to help my students experience something new, positive and productive. An iPad could really help our class. Your consideration would deeply be appreciated!
