Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is in a low socioeconomic neighborhood, and students receive free breakfast and lunch. Parents are supportive and do their best with their abilities to help support my efforts in teaching their children. The community also does what they can to help and support the school.
My students are all unique and special in their own way.
While they may have many obstacles they have to overcome, they have many abilities that often get overlooked. Some are living in motels, and some are moving every few days to weeks from home to home. Yet they come to school with what they have and work hard towards their goals. Many of them come from low socioeconomic homes and are ethic minorities. School is their safe place and the place where they are valued, complete and loved.
My Project
These numerical stepping stones are safe and engaging. My students need help with enhancing all of their senses. Their gross motor skills are delayed, and these numerical stepping stones will provide them with a safe alternative to building their core while also engaging their cognitive skills. These stepping stones will help them to safely maneuver about challenging obstacles.
How exciting to not only build your gross motor abilities but to also learn your numbers in the process!
These stepping stones will also enhance creativity and imagination. I can already envision the obstacle course my students will build throughout their classroom! These stepping stones will be the ultimate engaging materials for my students.
