This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Numberblocks phenomena has challenged our approach to Mathematics and turned it on its ear. Via the use of Numberblock manipulatives and visual aides, students can learn that numbers are successive, build upon each other, and share multiple relationships. In short, Numberblocks build beginning Number Sense.

Increasing the automaticity in which numbers and their parts are identified, is a game changer for Kindergarteners!

These Numberblock activities and manipulatives will allow each student to engage with their numbers- recognizing Hierarchical Inclusion, readily comparing numerals and amounts, and internalizing the paired parts of a given number.

This last year of Kindergarten I spent many hours creating new lessons to address the aforementioned skills, but now we need the appropriate tools to match. We have ran off copies of colored construction paper blocks to manipulate, but they just don't hold up to Kindergarten little hands.

With your support we can have tools that match the rigor of our instruction, and students will be able to visualize and hold the magic of mathematics!
