Ours is a small community of about 10,000 people. This small community is full of kind and caring people, and I can say, without a doubt, that my students embody that attitude. They are inventive, have a thirst for knowledge, and have a deep love of experiencing new things.
My students' abilities range all the way from beginning to advanced, and yet they all leave at the end of the day feeling as if they have succeeded and that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to.
My goal, as their teacher, is to give them the best experiences possible and to continue to foster the belief that they can succeed. With your help, I truly believe that they will continue to believe this in every aspect of their education.
My Project
My students are amazing but are struggling with Number Sense. I teach the low math for fifth grade and many of these students are struggling with the basics.
Many of my students do better with a more hands on approach to math.
By using manipulatives and teaching different strategies on how to solve a problem, students will be able to 'see' how math works. The Hands2Mind kit is the perfect supplement to help students manipulate math themselves. When they get stuck, i'm teaching something new in math, or they want to show another student how they came up with a problem; they can always use the kit to help them better understand how math works.
