My Students
My students are multicultural marvels! They are a community of eager learners that love hands on projects and activities. My babies have been in a dual language program for the last 2 years and have developed a love of learning in both english and spanish. They learned songs, written stories in both languages, and work hard to become great individuals.
It has been a great pleasure seeing them grow into a community of dual language learners despite coming from low income environments.
My Project
These books and activities will continue to encourage their learning of the Spanish language as well and develop an understanding of Spanish cultures and customs. These books will also allow Spanish speaking students feel welcomed to our community. Although some have entered silently, they feel comfortable expressing themselves now.
I have seen how my students have helped each other develop both languages.
It has been wonderful watching partners read together, teach each other, and develop lifelong friendships around spanish/english books. Parents have also enjoyed watching their child communicate in both languages.
Diversity: the art of thinking independently together.
