I currently have 24 Prekindergarten students on my roster. All of my students’ families have elected in-person instruction. Due to the pandemic, my scholars need a clean carpet where they can meet with me and their peers in the morning and throughout the instructional day. My students are enthusiastic about learning despite all of the challenges during this pandemic. For many of them, this will be their first experience in a structured learning environment outside of their homes.
My Project
I will use my carpet for Circle Time, read aloud, oral discussions, to model how to use manipulative, restorative circles and classroom management. It is the perfect place for my scholars to start their day in my Prekindergarten classroom.
After greeting each scholar at the door, they proceed to the carpet.
This is where we sing our Good Morning song and make our learning commitment for the day. The students love to start the morning routine with a good book on the carpet. Although each scholar has their own assigned spot, it provides an intimate setting for reading comprehension.
