This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The books are a huge hit! My Kindergartners love learning about writing craft through in depth reading of 1 author at a time. The only problem is we can't showcase our author of the week- or any books at all- because we need a bookshelf!
For most of the high-poverty students in my class, Author's Study is one of their first experiences with books!
Almost none of these Kindergartners had the opportunity to attend pre-school and even less have their own books at home. It is so important to offer them a strong Kindergarten experience with the resources they need so that they are ready for the rest of their school career.
My Project
By displaying our shiny, new, hardback (donorschoose.org provided) author's study books on a new book display shelf, students will be drawn to and inspired by these classic stories. The bookshelf with be the centerpiece of our library making it an inviting and accessible place for children to read great books.
When students learn to love reading from an early age, so many doors open up to them.
Your donation will enable students to access the wonderful new Author's Study books we have been given and allow them to immerse themselves in each writers style and craft. This is an important step in becoming a life long lover or books!
