My Project
These AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices will allow students to be heard, even when they cannot or do not physically speak. When a student presses a button, they will hear their teacher’s voice say the word that matches the picture. All of my students are nonverbal, but these picture based devices will give my students the ability to communicate with the people around them, giving them access to the world! Students will be able to get their wants and needs met, leading to a decrease in difficult and disruptive behaviors. They can make choices and feel seen and heard, creating limitless gains in confidence, independence, and connection.
