My Students

My students are English Language Learners. We are located in East Tulsa. Our precious students come from other countries, near and far. In their instruction, we focus on the four domains of literacy; reading, writing, listening, and speaking. They need to talk about items that they can hold in their hands. This doll house with furniture will be perfect for them to use to help expand their vocabularies, but practicing speaking and writing about items in their own home. They will be able to make great connections to what they already know.

My Project

Our English learners come to to us full of their native languages. To succeed in out schools, they will require strong knowledge of the English language. They need familiar items to manipulate, identify, and write about. This doll house with families help them make connections, in English, to what they already know. By contributing to our project, you not only help my students’ English development, but you will also help contribute to their overall academic success. Pictures in books and on picture cards are not as powerful for language development as items that my students can hold as we learn about nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
