My Students

I have been fortunate enough to be teaching in the same elementary school for the past twenty-four years! My first graders are funny, filled with energy and eager to learn. Each day they come to school wanting to know more, do more and they want to learn how to read independently.

Within my classroom, many different languages are spoken.

Some of my students are on their way to mastering the English language, but many are just learning to speak English.

My Project

By playing HedBanz, my students will practice using expressive and descriptive language. Through the use of visuals, students will be able to ask each other questions about the cards on their heads. They will also use the clues their friends give them to figure out the answer.

This activity will help me reach all learners in a fun and meaningful way!

Students will be learning to ask questions, listen to each other and use context clues to make meaningful connections to figure out the answer. Many students will also learn how to speak English by playing this game. In addition to building language skills, students will build time management skills by using timers to track how long it takes to figure out the cards on their head.

And... it is just plain old fashion fun!
