My Students

My goal is to provide my students with the environment and tools they need to fuel their fire for learning.

My class is filled with 21 five- and six-year-old children who are discovering the world and learning new concepts every day. Many of my students are English Language Learners or have special needs. As my school is a Title I school, many of them come from homes with limited resources. Many go home to busy families where they are encouraged to watch TV or play video games. However, they are all very busy and love to be actively engaged in reading and learning. It is thrilling to be a part of lighting a fire for learning every day in kindergarten!

My Project

By assessing with ESGI, I’ll be able to quickly assess and progress monitor the letters, sounds, and other easy learning skills they need. I will be able to print practice material when there are deficits and share information with families, differentiating for each individual learner. Having a quick and engaging tool for assessment will cut down on my assessment time, providing more time for engaging activities and small group instruction. Kids love to track their progress and this tool will allow them to see how far they’ve come! By tracking progress, they can set new goals and continue to grow.
