Our students love using technology in the classroom! This year, we were especially fortunate to receive a classroom set of Chromebooks that have allow each child work on closing their achievement gap by utilizing personalized, research-based practices through a variety of web-based learning programs. Using the Chromebooks to increase our knowledge is powerful, but without headphones and microphones, it is difficult to utilize all of the materials appropriately because we cannot always hear the instructional tutorials or read to the computer without disturbing other students.
Imagine how much more our students would achieve if they could fully utilize the technology by hearing stories and being able to concentrate with headphones and microphones!
This would allow every student to fully access the audio included in many of the instructional tutorials, clearly hear directions, have the ability to utilize the text-to-speech features as well as increase focus and concentration with the reduced noise in the classroom. That would allow me to work directly with students in small groups with fewer interruptions.

My Project
By helping our class purchase headphones, you will help students achieve more from their Chromebooks and available technology. With headphones, every student will be able to take their learning to the next level by having the ability to see their writing come to life with the speech-to-text feature and have the ability to clearly hear instructional tutorials for their personalized learning paths. In addition, students would also have the ability to create audio-backed presentations as well as practice their word usage and annunciation using language programs with microphones.
Not only will headphones promote student literacy skills, but they will also allow this large class to increase their attention and focus in small group instruction!
