My students are 21st-century learners who are eager to use all of the technology available to them! I teach 30 curious fourth-grade scientists in a small, Title I school that has an amazing and supportive principal.
My students are eager to learn, and their brains are sponges that absorb any and all information given to them.
Everything is a potential investigation or experiment to them, so I strive to provide my students with as many learning and project-based opportunities as possible. I constantly enhance the school curriculum and students' intrinsic motivation to learn more by infusing STEM correlations whenever possible.
Because of our small school size, funding levels are not as high as other schools in our area. Grants and projects like this one become an integral part of how I obtain resources to supplement learning experiences. I truly believe that the future lies in our children, that they have virtually unlimited potential, and my job is to enable them to reach it.
I would like to have a physical copy of "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" for all of my students. By providing a book for each child, I can assure that students are grasping reading content by discussing literature themes and working with vocabulary and comprehension strategies. I read this book when I was in fourth grade, and I want to share this traditional story with my students. It is my goal to offer students literature that will open their minds and lead them to a love of reading. This story is humorous, and students will be able to connect with it on a personal level. This connection is essential to building a love of reading!
This novel will make a monumental difference in my student's learning.
This year, I am doing novel studies with my students. In order for the novel study to be successful, I need a class set so that each student can read their own copy while they are in my classroom. The students will gain a new love for reading as we read together as a class. I can't wait to let our minds wonder together as we flip the pages of this book.
