My students love to read! I motivate them to read by providing books that interest them. Many of my students do not have books at home, which makes them really appreciate our classroom library.
Students are more willing to read when they have a variety of fun, engaging books to choose from.
They spend 15 minutes at the end of each day reading for pleasure while engaging in our school's D.E.A.R. (drop everything and read) time. This designated time to read has improved our students' oral reading fluency and overall enjoyment of reading.
Reading boosts their confidence and knowledge!
Help me spruce up my classroom library for when my students return to school! Reading is such an important skill, and I've noticed that students are more willing to read when they are able to read books that interest them.
My students absolutely love the Dork Diaries, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Captain Underpants book series.
I have a few of the books currently, and have had to create a waiting list for the students to check them out.
