This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher at a Title I school in Greenville, South Carolina. My school is a high-poverty school where all students receive free lunch and free breakfast.

At my school, "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters!" We want the moments that matter most to be those in which our students learn not only the curriculum but life lessons that will carry them through their teenage years and into adulthood.

The students overcome obstacles every day in our school from language barriers to essential needs, but they still come to school with a smile on their faces. I want to make their 5th grade year as special as possible. To do that, I need your help!

My Project

No matter where you are in the world, what you are going through, or what you are feeling, a book can allow you to escape and get lost in something for a while.

Books are the key to the adventure that is waiting for all types of readers.

Finding books that not only engage readers but also allow the readers to connect with them is something that my students need. They need books with characters that look like them, act like them, and feel like them. We can all remember that one book that changed our lives. Help me give my students that same opportunity. A book is a dream you hold in your hand!
