My students all come from low income families that aren't able to provide supplemental materials to support their child's education. My students face reading challenges and have a difficult time finding books to read on their level that interest them. In our school, all students are required to carry a novel to each and every class. Reading is an important skill that my students struggle with and it is up to me to instill a lifelong love of reading. My students are curious and eager to learn.
My Project
Reading is a subject that I am very passionate about. All of my students struggle with reading due to learning disabilities. They need low level, high interest books to read during the school day and for home reading requirements. Due to my students low reading abilities it is difficult to find novels that will spark their interest. These novels will allow my students to have materials that they can read and not feel embarrassed about. My students are very self conscious about their reading level and giving them materials that they can be successful with with help increase their confidence.
