My Project
I teach forty fifth grade students in a mountain-town in Eastern Arizona. My students are incredible. They are smart, kind, and constantly keep me on my toes.
As an ELA teacher, I try my hardest to instill a love for reading in my students.
Our classroom is our community. While there are some incredible stories in our curriculum book, novel studies would help expand my students' learning. Novel studies are important because they help students improve their reading comprehension skills. Novels also help improve deep thinking skills. These are things I encourage in my students everyday! A novel allows a student to make connections everyday.
I also believe reading novels can help students become more compassionate humans, and who doesn't want that? My goal for this project is to bring more books to my students and to grow their love of learning and reading.
