My Project

Every year, it takes a little bit of time to figure out what each group of students in my classroom needs. This year, I have students whose reading fluency is at-grade level or higher, but are needing some extra support on comprehension and vocabulary. According to the data, these students don't need reading intervention.

However, in order to meet these students' needs, I am needing materials for small, novel studies groups that explicitly work on their areas for improvement.

In hopes of giving these students interesting materials, outside of their whole group selections, I'm asking for some assistance in purchasing classroom sets of novels that these students can have meaningful discussions around.

I've purchased sets of Because of Winn Dixie, Holes, and The Game of Silence on my own, but I would love to have enough sets that students can vote as their next novel of choice as they finish out the year working on these literacy skills.

The books' difficulty varies as I want to make sure that the books are challenging enough to meet the kids where they are at their current (and growing) levels.
