My Project
My students are young adults, including some teen parents, who are preparing to take on the challenges of the real world. They’re a wonderful group — enthusiastic, engaged, and full of energy when they come to class. Their positive attitude makes teaching a truly enjoyable experience.
However, like many students in public schools, they’re not fond of the food provided in the cafeteria.
Instead, they often opt for snacks from the vending machines or skip lunch entirely. Sometimes, they remain in the classroom during lunch or even leave the school building. This often results in them missing their afternoon classes.
Providing snacks in class has proven to be an effective way to keep them present and energized throughout the day, especially during afternoon sessions. Having more snacks available would help maintain their focus and participation —particularly now, as the warmer weather tempts them to leave the building more often than during the colder winter months, when they preferred to stay inside.
