Our students come from all types of homes and backgrounds.
Some have plenty at home to eat....others need food backpacks for the weekend. What they have in common is they are the SWEETEST kids in the entire world! They really are! Our community of teachers and parents all pitch in to help at every school-wide function. It really is like one big family.
My Project
Food can be interlinked with childhood trauma in children who have experienced neglect or went hungry. We want to provide a feeling of safety in regards to food. We are starting this breakfast/lunch/snack pantry to make sure our students know their physical needs will always be met.
When children eat regularly scheduled nutritious snacks and meals, blood sugar levels remain constant which allows for optimal opportunity for learning and regulating behavior.
This breakfast/lunch/snack pantry will be open to students in need. No questions asked. If they come in late to school and need breakfast it will be there. If they forget their lunch or lunch money it will be there. If they cannot afford a snack or forget theirs at home it will be open to them!
