My Project
We are deep into the fall season, crisp leaves falling off the trees, chilly weather and shorter days are here! Unfortunately, we livemin Los Angeles and don't really get to experience all of the changes that "Fall" brings.
How do Angelenos know that Fall is here?
Football and Halloween! Once football flags and pumpkins start popping up around the city, we know it's fall!
Our school is organizing a Trunk or Treat event. My students are excited about it. Every student will be able to participate and receive at least one treat per car.
Since this event is causing extreme excitement, I'd like to combine it with our upcoming "Financial Literacy Unit." My students earn classroom money when they do well in class and follow directions. They are then able to spend their money every week at our classroom store.
I would like for my students to start saving money and manage it in an efficient way.
With their money, my students will be able to earn more than one trip to the trunk or treat event. They will have to plan well once they earn money. They can also choose to save it for future events. Hence, learning how to be financially responsible.
The flags and inflatable pumpkin that I am requesting will be used to decorate our trunk. Since football is a stable sign of "Fall," I am requesting items with my students favorite NFL teams. We also need bowls to hold the candy and candy to pass out to all students.
This event will not only give my students an opportunity to enjoy a true Fall event. They will get a chance to earn money by completing their wok, following directions and managing their behavior. Most importantly they will learn how to be financially literate.
