My Project
Highlighters and sticky notes are essential tools for engaging students in active reading and critical thinking. Highlighters help students identify and emphasize key ideas, details, or vocabulary in their texts, promoting better comprehension and retention. Sticky notes encourage students to annotate directly in their texts or notebooks, jotting down questions, reflections, or connections without altering the original material. These tools foster deeper engagement with content and develop essential skills like organization, analysis, and synthesis.
The goal is to help students become independent learners by equipping them with strategies to organize and process information effectively.
By integrating highlighters and sticky notes into daily lessons, I aim to support skills such as summarizing, identifying evidence for arguments, and tracking themes or patterns across texts. These practices not only enhance content understanding but also prepare students for long-term academic success in all subject areas.
My students are curious, resilient, and eager to connect their learning to real-world applications. They thrive when given opportunities to explore creative and personalized approaches to problem-solving and communication. Providing them with tools like highlighters and sticky notes allows them to interact with materials in ways that match their unique learning styles, empowering them to take ownership of their education.
