This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach third grade at a wonderful public school in East Boston, where my students are full of potential, creativity, and a love for learning. Many of them come from low-income households, and our classroom is often the place where they feel most supported, encouraged, and heard.
To help my students grow as readers and writers, I’m requesting two sets of composition notebooks.
One set will be used for reading responses, where students will write about the books they read, reflect on characters, make predictions, and build comprehension. The second set will be used during Writer’s Workshop, giving students a space to draft personal narratives, opinion pieces, and creative stories.
Having dedicated notebooks helps my students stay organized, take ownership of their work, and track their progress over time. There is something powerful about putting pencil to paper—it helps build confidence, focus, and pride in their ideas.
Your support will give my students the tools they need to express themselves, grow their thinking, and fall in love with reading and writing. Thank you for believing in them and in the power of their words.
