My classes of 180 6th grade students are from a very rural area in Pennsylvania. They are a wonderful group of sixth graders and embrace learning every single day. Our school is a Title I school and has a very high percentage of kids who receive free/reduced lunch. I do my best to provide them with worthwhile educational opportunities that engage them and allow them to grow academically and grow their character too. My students are very hardworking and have a strong desire for knowledge. We reach beyond the walls of our classroom to learn through technology to Skype, create projects, and go on virtual field trips. I'm so proud to be their teacher!
My Project
Writing is proven to increase the comprehension of student learning. The ELA Interactive Notebook Bundle , Reading Literature Interactive Notebook Bundle, as well as the 6th Grade Math Interactive Notebook Bundle for All Standards will help provide an opportunity for my students to customize their learning and build upon their skills throughout the school year. As their teacher I can easily look at the notebook and see the growth of my students throughout the year.
Teacher developed Common Core resources truly help students gain the knowledge needed in order to be successful in the classroom.
Novel studies for The Boy on the Wooden Box, Restart, Fish in a Tree, and Freak the Mighty will great help my students better undertand and comprehend our classroom novels. The Boy on the Wooden Box Webquest is a great resource to provide my students with a different medium for learning. 6th Grade Common Core Mini Assessments, 6th Grade Math Bundle Spiral Review, and the 6th Grade Math Task Cards are all super resources that will allow my students to practice what they have learned and help master math concepts. The 6th Grade Math Anchor Charts are another resources that will help my students when they are introduced to new math standards throughout the year. I truly believe that these teacher created resources are a must to ensure my students are learning to their full potential.
