Help me give my students activities that they wouldn't normally see in a PE class such as corn-hole and a highly requested parachute.

My Students
I am honored to introduce my wonderful students residing in Salt Lake City. They are a diverse group, where there is over 100 languages spoken in my school. We also host students who are attending art school, so I have had the honor of meeting hundreds of students who are unique, and have many different talents.
Although my students come from different backgrounds, they all yearn to belong and feel safe in school.
We have transitioned back and forth from online to in-person school, and not only has the pandemic affected their lives academically, but it has also impacted them emotionally and socially. I can't imagine the difficulties that they have faced at this time.
My Project
Through my experience teaching, I have noticed that PE classes can either be a highly prefered or dreaded class for my students. Not everyone loves to move! Not everyone feels comfortable using their body. This is all understandable, which is why I want to bring materials into my classroom that can help students enjoy lifetime activities that seem less intimidating for those who aren't stellar atheltes.
Physical activity has helped me through some of the darkest times in my life.
I want my students to have an opportunity to learn extra coping skills through their PE classes. I know that moving our bodies and creating relationships can help my students through dark times as well. My requests include corn hole sets and parachute sets. These are unique to high school PE/Fitness for life classes and I believe they will help students become more involved in class.
Corn hole can teach students how to throw, aim and retrieve, but it's also a fun activity that everyone can do, no matter the skill level. It also allows students to have time to talk and socialize with each other. I have found that students have way more fun and are more willing to participate when they can socialize as they go. This is an awesome lifetime activity for my students.
Although the parachute may seem like a game for younger students, I have had students from all classes, with completely different backgrounds, beg me to purchase a parachute. My students can be silly, but they absolutely love playing games that are unique and remind them of their childhood. I have oftentimes found that my students are more willing to participate when we do activities rather than sports because they seem less intimidating and more about having fun and moving!
