This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic 4 year olds who love to learn! Our class is made up of 10 boys and 8 girls. Our small school is a kind and caring learning environment, nestled in a neighborhood just outside of downtown Los Angeles. Approximately 75% of our students are considered economically disadvantaged and qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our population is diverse with students coming from many ethnic backgrounds. We have received the honors of Title I High Achieving School and California Distinguished School.

My Project

As our school increases our emphasis on STEM instruction, it is essential that our youngest students develop the skills they need to succeed. A bundle of Amazon Fire tablets will make it possible to guide my 4 year old students in a small group. These tablets will also be used independently by students as they develop technology skills while accessing many areas of our Expanded Transitional Kindergarten curriculum.

STEM instruction is a main focus at our school.

The technology available to my students is very limited with access to an iPad cart just once a week. Having a bundle of Amazon Fire tablets will increase access to all students in the classroom.
