This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Carpet time usually makes people think of early childhood classrooms but carpet time is important for all students. In 4th grade we still meet on the carpet for read alouds to hear our favorite stories. We meet on the carpet for number talks as we grow our math skills and number sense.
Most importantly our carpet is the centerpiece of our community building time.
We practice Circle time as taught in restorative justice to build our community in our class and ensure that every student is having their needs met not just academically but socio-emotionally as well. Having a fresh new carpet that helps bring nature's elements indoors will help tie our classroom together.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
