Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
On Friday we said, “Goodbye, see you Monday,” but that was not to be. We were told we would begin remote learning before Monday came. Our little learners are at home learning virtually. I am recording lessons and posting on Google Classroom. We have 2 Google Meet Ups a week, mostly so they can see each other, as parents have said that it is hard on these 4 and barely 5 year-olds to not see their friends. They don’t understand why we can’t be together and are wondering when they can come back to the "big" school.
My Project
When my class has a Google Meet Up, I like to read a book to them. That was our most favorite time in our classroom. The only problem is, I didn't bring enough books home from school because, like everyone else, I thought this remote learning wasn't going to last that long. Well, weren't we surprised? I would like to have this collection of books on hand to read whenever the time arises. When I read a story, the children are engaged and listening, and they stop moving around and listen.
I think it brings them back to their safe time in our classroom.
"Brown Bear," "Clifford," and "Sing Alongs" are some of our favorites. With your help, we can bring a little bit of our classroom into our remote learning world with some new and old favorites.
