"This place hasn't changed at all" states the hypothetical 1938 graduate from our building, which is now a Junior High. The building and our facilities may not be up to 21st century standards, but our children deserve the best. We lack running water, we lack appropriate climate control, we lack...I could continue, but I won't. What we have is children who are ready to think, to learn and to help each other. Please help us succeed.
This is only my second year in this classroom. Last year we organized and increased our materials and supplies tremendously. However, since the lab was not used properly for the past 20 some years, we do not have what we need to study all areas of science (the study of the natural world.) With a limited budget our classroom needs your help to get students engaged in their learning.
By purchasing the simple machine science kits, the students will not only get to preform a variety of experiments calculating work, efficiency, mechanical advantage, and determine the forces at work, they will also get to design their own machines. The level of engagement will empower students to become active participants in their learning and may even inspire a few students to study fields like engineering.
You will make it possible for my students to take responsibility for their learning. You will also give my students an experience they will not forget. Every day they walk into the classroom and they see the lab set up or activity written on the board, their eyes light up and they become instantly engaged. By purchasing these activities you ensure this spark in their eyes for multiple days this year and the years to follow.
