Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Having a classroom set of the same scientific calculators helps to teach students critical math skills while increasing their mathematical abilities. The reason I have chosen this specific calculator is because it is one of the most commonly used calculators for the ACT and in general. Students who feel confident about math typically tend to perform better academically. It also incorporates the use of technology into the classroom on a daily basis. I have several students who believe they are not good in math, but I hope to remove the stigmas associated with the subject area of mathematics. The more students work with a calculator, the less likely they are to feel anxious about using one.
