Not So Basic Classroom Basics

Help me give my students tote bags for their books, holders to keep their pencils in place, stamps to reward them for a job well done and sensory items to help them focus and always do their best.

My Students

I teach in a highly diverse and transient school. This year all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have students with many different backgrounds, single parent homes, students in foster care, and students who have moved several times in their short lives. I have been working at my building for 18 years and love to watch my students grow through the years. Because school is often what they consider their safe space, I try my best to make the classroom a home for them.

My Project

There are so many little things in a classroom that both myself and my students use each day. Some of these little things are important to their daily routine and help me keep the classroom running smoothly. They help us organize, learn routines and teach us the importance of having a schedule. Often my students come from a place where they do not have consistency in their life, little things like daily stamps on their papers or trinket rewards for keeping their supplies organized or making good choices is something that they can count on and help them build up their independence while reinforcing the routine and rules of our classroom. All of theses things are little yet big throngs that makes them feel safe. The items I am requesting are those little-big things. Rewards, materials and classroom supplies that will help keep our classroom family running smoothly for the school year.
