My Students

I have a caseload of amazing PreK-5th grade speech/language students who are constantly in motion. We work hard to "make every sound count" during table and movement activities.

A challenge I face during table time is keeping students focused and seated as the chairs I have are not the best option for my semi-circular table.

I am also constantly reminding them not to lean back for safety reasons.

My ideal room arrangement would include seating which students cannot tilt back on and provides an opportunity for some "wiggling while counting our sounds".

My Project

Providing students with an opportunity for limited, safe movement in a seated position while attending to an activity can improve their ability to focus on the task at hand. Seating that students are able to safely tilt and rock in allows them to "get their wiggles out" without disrupting the rest of the group.

Wobble chairs will provide students, who want an alternative to a traditional chair, the ability to safely move around a bit during therapy sessions.

Another potential bonus- saving me countless hours not repeating "bottom on the chair" and "four legs on the floor" throughout the day!
