Northern Italy, Saturated Pigments, Blendability - learning to love pastels!
Help me give my students the opportunity to experience the joy of creating art with high quality pastels!
The pastels in this shopping cart and the toned papers will be the media used to create amazing pastel drawings.
Students turned to their digital devices during Covid and left behind the tactile, touchable, malleable making practices that creating art celebrates. To touch a drawing material and be an active participant in moving a color across the surface of a substrate in real time is something that cannot be replaced by technology.
Students desperately need time away from screens and time to be expressive and to get messy again.
They need opportunities with high quality art materials to see what is possible and to understand what highly saturated pigments and high quality toned papers can do for them when used in tandem to help them create what is in their mind’s eye.
My students will study the history of pastel art, explore the pastel medium (with high quality materials such as Nupastels) and create resolved pieces which we will then put on display throughout the school.
