it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of 55 fifth graders in a general education class, with students with IEP and ELLs and special education students such as autism.
A typical day in my classroom looks active.
I teach in a Title I school. A large number of the population live in shelters and receive free lunch.
My fifth-grade students come from very diverse families. I am excited to share that my school is a genuinely diverse community. Not only do students come from varying ethnic backgrounds and places, but the life experiences that they’ve had are incredibly unique. My scholars are creative, thoughtful and full of excitement!
They are first generation immigrants and their families have very limited English skills and are not capable of helping them with their learning.
During this Coronavirus pandemic, we continue teaching online through distance learning.
To engage my students in this unusually setting , I share my screen constantly to make the learning more meaningful. My students are eager learners. Yet they need a lot of examples and visuals to help them comprehend in a remote learning setting and in person learning.
My Project
Since we left school on March 13th, learning has been very unique and challenging for my students. They are learning from home, working online and facing many different challenges. Many of my students are struggling to find ways to stay motivated because they miss school. I have been working on finding different techniques to keep them engaged and interested in learning. With the resources I am requesting, I am hoping to find some new, interesting and fresh ideas to spruce things up. Learning from home has it's challenges.
My biggest concern is keeping the students motivated and interested in learning.
With new educational resources from Teachers Pay Teachers, I can create new and exciting lessons using fresh ideas that other educators have found to be effective. My students are learning remotely and with the help of graphic organizers and other visual aids, I can help to meet the needs of every individual student. These new lessons will appeal to all different learning styles. My main goal is to keep my students interested and focused on learning while they continue to grow academically at home.
