My students need games to play at recess. Why not teach them about the real world and finances? We need timers to time games and a whistle to know when to rotate!
Our school is a wonderful public school with neighborhood children and transfer students who wait in line overnight to get a spot in our school. The students value education and want to become lifelong learners.
We have a diverse student body.
We are so blessed to have great parental support. We are the only public school in our city that is not Title I. This means that we do not get any extra funding for school "extras." We rely on DonorsChoose.org to help teachers equip their classrooms with the "extras."
My Project
Financial Literacy is not in our curriculum, so I try to sneak it in when I can. The Money game will be fun to play during inside recess. Basic financial knowledge is essential for every student.
I am requesting several money games that the students can play in groups of 4 during inside recess.
They will be timed, and after a certain amount of time, I can blow a whistle and they can switch to another game or activity.
If I can get children to understand that assets are always better than debt, perhaps they will grow up to be savvy with their hard-earned money when they are adults. We appreciate your help in improving our education. My students are always pleasantly surprised when "strangers" donate to our projects. It shows them that education is to be valued and not taken for granted!
