Nonfiction Readers Need Resources!

My students need a nonfiction lending library so that my students can borrow nonfiction easy readers. I would like my students to have access to nonfiction books on their reading level.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is an energetic, excited and overwhelmingly enthusiastic group of first graders. They love coming to school and interacting with their peers and teachers. They are a funny, dedicated, and inquisitive group of students who run into the classroom and don't want to leave! They are six and seven-year-old students who need lessons and activities to keep them engaged in learning. Our school is a new school with pre-kindergarten through second-grade students. Our school has a high population of English Language Learners, Special Education students, and students from various cultural backgrounds. Our students need a high level of support for them to learn at their best.

My Project

I am requesting a nonfiction leveled lending library. My students will borrow nonfiction leveled books and read them at home with their families.

I would like my students to take the nonfiction books home, read them with their families and use them to research their topic.

The students will write facts that they learn about their topic down and use those facts to help them write their book. They will write a nonfiction book about their topic. Then as a culminating project, the students will create a painting of their nonfiction topic. The parents and families will be invited to an art show to show their paintings and hear their "All About..." books.
