My Students
My students are energetic learners and eager to learn! They live in an urban city in the Bay Area. Seventy percent of my students qualify for free and reduced price lunches. Our district and our school have a large number of English Language learners. Many of my students' parents have not attended college and their child could be the first ones in their family to attend college.
My students enjoy working with their hands and creating things with their hands.
My Project
The Time For KIds magazines are great resources for my students. The magazines cover current events and have a mixture of topics that are educational in nature. By reading the magazines the students learn about what's happening in the world and how to make a difference.
My students enjoy the magazines and love reading them.
Many of the articles have projects that students can do as an extension activity. These projects are related to all subjects and are engaging.
In addition, the articles are nonfiction so my students build their nonfiction reading skills and have fun at the same time.
