This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you love learning about amazing new animals, new inventions, and famous people? My students do to. They love nonfiction, but we don't have enough current material at their level. TIME for Kids is a great, ongoing resource.

My students are awesome!

They are eager students who love to learn about the world around them. They attend a high-need Title 1 school with little funding for additional materials. Most of my students are English learners and receive Free and Reduced Lunch.

My Project

TIME for Kids will help students learn new content while at the same time learn the text structure of nonfiction text. The new Common Core standards are more rigorous and students need multiple exposures to quality nonfiction text. I will be able to teach nonfiction text features and a variety of comprehension skills across a wide range of topics.

Reading nonfiction has never been so important for students success.

My students will be able to develop critical thinking skills about the world around them as well as topics that are continents away.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
