This is my second year teaching, and I am constantly in awe of what my students are capable of! I teach at a school that reflects the diversity of Atlanta, with students bringing a variety of cultures and languages into our classroom.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to learn from and with my students.
My students love to read, and they are always eager to share new information with me. They often come up to me to share interesting facts from their books, and they get surprised when they find out that it's new and interesting information for me too!
I find my students' curiosity and eagerness for learning​ inspiring, and I am so grateful for all that they teach me!
My Project
For the past couple of years, I have been working to expand our class library. My class has been fortunate to receive book donations through sources, like DonorsChoose.org, and we are so excited to be growing our class library! While we feel really grateful for our expanding library, my students have noticed that most of our books are fiction.
While reading fiction is a core part of reading growth, it is equally important for students to have exposure to a variety of nonfiction books.
My students have a wide range of interests, but they all share a strong sense of curiosity and eagerness for learning! I want to provide them with more nonfiction books to learn from and explore the world through.
