My Project

Silent sustained reading creates lifelong readers. Readers are thinkers and reading creates empathy. Empathetic thinkers make the world a better place.

I teach 2 sections of 11th grade English, and 3 sections of 9th grade English; 2 are co-taught with a learning specialist and are severely impacted with many students with 504s, IEPs, students with ALPs who are gifted/talented.

These classes are successful because differentiation is key. In my opinion, silent sustained reading is excellent differentiation as it allows students to grow as readers and thinkers by independently exploring their interests.
