Non Fiction To Engage Reluctant Readers!

My students need engaging reading material that is relevant to current events. A class subscription to Scholastic newspapers offer this in a fun way!

My Students

Help reluctant readers! Scholastic News is a way to interest students in current events and get them reading nonfiction without picking up a book!

My students love reading nonfiction, but we our classroom library consists of many fiction chapter books.

Nonfiction is harder to comprehend well and with the new common core standards, non fiction is a huge piece. These newspapers will get kids interested and have them read in a different format than the traditional book or text book.

My Project

These newspapers will be more exciting that our old science and social studies text books. We are always trying to find different resources to interest kids and these colorful and current magazines will do the trick! They will update our library and help us read from a different media type.

My project is important because today's students need lots of engaging ways to learn.

Learning from traditional textbooks isn't as fun anymore so these magazines will help interest all readers, especially ones reluctant to read! Nonfiction is fun!
