Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students enjoy reading but we often only have fiction texts for the entire class to read. I would like to expose my students to non-fiction text so I can open them up to more things. Our students have to have 50% of their reading as non-fiction so I would love for this to happen.

My students are very happy bright students.

They come to school to learn each day. They face many challenges in their everyday lives that school is their safe place. As their teacher I am providing them with the opportunity to be safe and come to school to enjoy learning. I try to provide my students with every opportunity to learn regardless of what they may go through at home.

My Project

These materials will help my students learn about real life things such as animals, space, insects, etc. Non-fiction texts will open up a whole new world for my students. This magazine subscription will give each student the opportunity to get their hands on the magazine and read a non-fiction text. Our school does not always have this available for our students and we usually make due with what we have but I would love for my students to all enjoy learning. I am requesting a subscription to a science magazine. This magazine will enable each kid to have their own magazine, but it will also allow them to read about real life things. Not only will the magazines help in science but also with social studies.

Donations to this project will not only benefit me as the teacher but also my students.

It will give my students the chance to open up a magazine and experience a different kind of text. This will help build my students reading skills and vocabulary. This will help my students see and read about things that they may not even know about right now. It is not just a science magazine, it will also help the students learn about social studies too. It will be a different kind of non-fiction text.
