Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Did you know that a water spout is a kind of tornado?" "How do machines work?" These are the types of questions that I am hearing from my class of kindergarteners.
My kindergarteners are a group of children who care about each other more than I have ever seen.
They truly love to learn together, love to help each other, and love to teach each other. They also love to read. My students just devour the pictures in our non-fiction books. They love to take what they have learned and use the ideas in the books they create in writing workshop.
My Project
This set of non-fiction kindergarten level books will take my class' curiosity and writing workshop books to the next level. While I have a wide range of non-fiction books in our classroom library, they are no where near a kindergarten reading level. We will also be able to use the books for research much easier than the ones that are too difficult for kindergartners to read.
If you are around a 5-year-old or can remember back to being a kid, you may be familiar with the curiosity these kids have.
It is wonderful to see them ask questions, but even better to watch them light up when they get the answer to their questions. How much more amazing it will be to watch them light up not because someone told them the answer to their questions, but because they could READ the answer to their questions. Your donation will help to spark a child's love of learning forever.
