Non-Fiction Book Clubs for Diverse Readers

My Project

Books of all genres are windows to new worlds, in my opinion. This is why I am so passionate about stocking my classroom with books that will engage all of my students. I want my students to see themselves in the characters, people, or events they are reading about. That is why I am requesting multiple books for non-fiction book clubs in my classroom.

Lit Circles, or book clubs, allow students of all abilities to read new books and engage in group work, critical thinking, and grow as students.

If this project is funded, it will allow both of my groups of students to read high-interest NON-FICTION books at their level. It is so important for students to read books texts- non-fiction and fiction- but it is so hard to find engaging non-fiction, expository texts for students to engage in.

If this project is funded, it will allow my students to expand their knowledge, work with their classmates, and make connections to text that they might never read otherwise. All 62 of my students are incredible. They are at different levels; they have different interests; and they approach reading differently. But I truly believe that these books will make a world of a difference in their lives.
