My students need 21 subscriptions of the Times for Kids Magazines to incorporate real news and current events into their learning everyday.
Do you love current events and learning something new everyday? We do! Non-fiction reading gets students excited and interested in reading everyday.
Our students are 9 and 10 year old kids that are creative, motivated, and hard working.
They love to learn new information and create projects based on what they read. Our school is 98% free and reduced lunch and so many of our students lack materials both in school and at home for non-fiction reading. We continue to do our best to get a variety of reading materials in our students hands everyday, but these magazine subscriptions would make it much easier to get new information every month.
Students will be able to research new topics and information about current events. Students would increase their comprehension skills and background knowledge through the use of these magazines. The more variety of text that students are reading make them more well-rounded diverse readers that can apply these reading skills to more complex texts and throughout their lives as readers.
This donation would improve the student interaction within our classroom to create more project-based learning and expand our classroom outside of the school walls, just through the reading of real events, new information, and expand the minds of the students that may never get the chance to visit the places they read about.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
