Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a part of a Resource classroom. My para-educators and I support students in Kindergarten through sixth grade who have specialized academic services in their Individual Education Plans or IEP. We support students with a variety of needs such as learning disabilities, emotional needs, and autism. Students may come to our resource classroom for targeted small-group instruction in the academic areas where they need it the most and we may work with them in their general education classrooms on academic and behavior goals.

Our students are hard-working and they are intrinsically motivated to succeed.

They show perseverance in working through their learning challenges so they can achieve more than what they previously thought possible. It is a joyful moment when their faces light up with excitement after they have mastered a new skill. They are proud of their achievements and so are we!

My para-educators and I provide guidance in the areas of: Mathematical reasoning, Phonics, Reading Comprehension, Writing, STEAM, as well as Social Emotional Learning, or SEL.

Many of our students are very sensitive to sound. Being in loud environments such as assemblies, PE or enthusiastic classrooms can be overwhelming. These ear plugs are a new technology that will reduce the sound in their environment by 18-23 decibels. These Loop Ear Plugs will take the edge off while still allowing them to hear what is being said around them. This technology will allow our students with sound sensitives to engage and participate in their education.
