My students need to feel at home in my classroom. Having a clean, well stocked classroom is key. I am requesting cleaning supplies, tissues, and snacks to help my students succeed in 7th grade science.
Our school is located on the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. We are a Title I school with a high percentage (approximately 70%) of students living at or below the poverty level. Our school is a small, rural community school with fewer than 400 students in grades 4-8.
Despite the many challenges my students face, they are eager to learn.
My students are always super excited to come to my class and I am eager to present them with thoughtful, engaging science content. Science is best learned in context, by doing and experiencing things. DonorsChoose.org provides me with the materials I need to make this happen.
We are small but mighty. We have a lot of school spirit and it really is a great place to spend my time. We are very active in the community and focus on building positive relationships both in and outside of the school setting.
My Project
More than half of my students come from homes of poverty. Many of them rely on the school for daily meals, medical care, and supplies. Students who feel well cared for and safe are more likely to succeed in the school setting.
I am requesting snacks, cleaning supplies, and other items to remove the obstacles that poverty can present so that my students can focus on learning rather than surviving.
A clean and healthy classroom environment is critical in making this work.
My goal this year, and every year, is to create an environment where students feel welcome and free of the distractions that their home lives present so that they can focus on learning and reaching their full potential. Your assistance with this goal is appreciated more than you will ever know.
